Do I really need antibiotics?

Antibiotics cure bacterial infections, but not viral infections such as:

  •    Colds or flu
  •    Most coughs and bronchitis
  •    Most sore throats
  •    Runny noses, even if the mucus is thick, yellow or green

Taking antibiotics for viral infections:

  •    Will not cure the infection
  •    Will not keep other people from getting sick
  •    Will not make you feel better

What are the side effects to antibiotics?

Common side effects range from minor to very severe health problems and can include:
  •        Rash
  •    Dizziness
  •    Nausea
  •    Diarrhea
  •    Yeast infections
More serious side effects can include:
  •     Clostridium difficile (C-Diff) infection
  •     Severe and life-threatening allergic reactions

Integrating Behavioral Health
What is Behavioral Health?
Behavioral health describes a connection between Behaviors and Health. Our behaviors have an impact on our health, whether good or bad. The good news is that behaviors can be changed; we can learn new ways of behaving. Behavioral health includes intervention and prevention of mental illness and substance abuse or other addictions. Studies show that improved behavior health has a direct correlation to improved physical health.

Why?
Increased Motivation
Empowerment of Wellness
Increased Adherence & Satisfaction
Decrease Adverse Side Effects
Rural Access to Treatment through Telehealth Services

This project was made possible in part by a grant awarded to Central Montana Medical Center, grant number DO6RH31052, from the Office of rural Health Policy, Health resources and Services Administration, DHHS.
